The CPD course was introduced in 2017 by CISRS with the intention of all Scaffolders and Advanced scaffolders renewing their cards every 5 years.
The reason for this?
Scaffolding is viewed as a high-risk industry, but this doesn’t have to be the case if scaffolders are working correctly and are equipped with the correct and up to date knowledge.
This is where the CPD refresher training course comes in, providing scaffolders with the relevant legislation and guidance updates. The course is over a 2-Day duration.
The only pre-requisite for this course is to already hold either a Scaffolder card or an Advanced Scaffolder card which has either already expired or is due to expire in the next 6 months.
Learners do not need to have taken a Health and Safety test prior to attending a CPD Refresher course as they will complete a Health, Safety and Behavioural test whilst on the course. If, however, you do not successfully complete this element, you will be required to pass an additional Health and Safety test to apply for your renewal card.
When creating the CPD course, CISRS included other aspects of training to add value to doing it. This includes Alloy Tower and Scaffold Inspection modules. With the modules being part of the CPD Refresher training you will have the opportunity to have this endorsed onto your Scaffold card upon successful completion.
There has been good feedback regarding CPD Refresher training overall thus giving all Scaffolders an opportunity to find out what’s changed regarding industry legislations and safety guidelines. The common purpose being that this can be implemented to continue the high standards whilst working at Height.
